Re: Lawn porn, Midnight Monostand
Haha, ok thank you!! Just wanted to make sure I wasn't being obnoxious, LOL. As nice as it looks, its far from perfect. Maybe an 7.5 out of 10? I always enjoy seeing pics. I wish more people would post pics of their awesome lawns. Would love to see pics of some of the other elite types. Perhaps there should be a separate section for that? I didn't want to post it in renovations since it s not its 1st year. Thanks again, Andy!

Very nice! Too modest to say 7.5.
What mower did you use to cut? Nice even cut and minimal wheel tracks,.

Nice lawn and nice edging. A lawn and landscape always looks better when it's nicely edged.

Wow, those are great pictures congratulations! I need to stop myself from looking at pictures like this. I think I have a pretty nice lawn, but then I see these and feel totally inadequate!

Rxrep,
How are the neighbors' renovations holding up? If I recall correctly, you did a couple of them a few years ago.

I use an edging blade attachment to my string trimmer. So edging blade.kellytroym wrote: ↑May 28th, 2020, 8:49 amI agree!! What did you use to edge? String trimmer, edging blade, or something else?

Re: Lawn porn, Midnight Monostand
Here is the first one. Also Midnight Monostand about 4 years old. This neighbor is very laid back in terms of caring for it. Also has a lawn service that uses heavy equipment ( check out the grooves). Has some patches of annua that need to be dug out and currently a mild case of fungus. He’s a great neighbor and we have a pretty good relationship but unless I tell him to do something he doesn’t do anything to it. LOL
Here is the second one. Again Midnight mono. 9 months old, needs to be cut. This is my next-door neighbor and he is really into it. He will do everything he needs to to have a really nice lawn. Has some patches of annua or triv we zapped with glyphosate. I’m currently growing some midnight in pots for the patch job.

Re: Lawn porn, Midnight Monostand
Thanks for the compliments everyone. Gonna do a serious thatch job come late summer early fall. It definitely needs it. Biggest enemy by far is the fungus. Ugh, it’s an almost constant struggle. Also, like a lot of folks I too have the BBDL (brown blades down low). Again, would love to see some pics of other folks growing elite KBG and or turf type tall fescue.

Also, would love some feedback on: 1) I'm thinking about adding fertigation to cut down on the work. Any thoughts? and 2) I'm thinking of overseeding with Keeneland KBG(If I can find it) to reduce the incidence of rust and leaf spot. The down side is I lose some of the uniformity of the monostand. Any thoughts on that? 3) Feedback on Serenade. Does it work? Can you run it through fertigation? Thanks.

If the reason you planted a monostand was for it’s looks, I don’t see why you’d change now —unless disease pressure is overwhelming.

Re: Lawn porn, Midnight Monostand
Thanks turf toes. I wouldn't say its overwhelming. I think the thatch removal will help. In addition I did read today that serenade can be applied through fertigation or chemigation as they say. So, I'm leaning that route. I'm just looking for easier/quicker ways of doing things while keeping the lawn nice.
