New lawn with areas dying back

Post by CC_baseball » June 25th, 2020, 11:43 am

hi,

I planted a new lawn in a portion of my yard this spring. (I live in Massachusetts). First pass came up pretty good but had some bare spots to which I reseed. After a few more weeks the lawn was 95% full and looked great. Last week I noticed some weak looking and dead grass and since then it has spread to 15% of the lawn. Some of the dead areas stay matted down and the established grass looks like its being a knotted up by the dead grass.

Any thoughts on if this was fungus, too dry, shallow roots, or overcrowding due to too much seed put down?

Thanks!

There is no way to answer the question with the provided information - you need to provide watering practices, mowing habits, how much seed (and what type), fertilization, and how the problems developed. Otherwise, we are just making blind guesses and I don't think you came here for blind guesses.
