Anybody grows Quackgrass seed?
I am new in this forum. I am looking for some quackgrass [Elymus repens (L.) Gould] seed, about 10,000 lbs. I know it is considered as weed, but it is also a good forage. Does anybody grow this kind of seed? Or do you know where I should look for this seed? Thanks.

For 10,000 pounds, I presume you'd want to be looking at local seed supply houses for farmers. With your being in Des Moines, a call to United Seeds would be in order. https://unitedseeds.com/
If they don't carry what you are looking for, they can probably point you to a different distributor / wholesaler who can help.

Re: Anybody grows Quackgrass seed?
I saw some post about quackgrass seed at this forum from 2015. That's why I came to ask. I am sorry.

There are several grasses that are generally considered weeds, but under certain circumstances are desirable.
Those of us with unconventional lawns need to remember that most people here think we're weird and not get offended.

Re: Anybody grows Quackgrass seed?
JVQ: I would contact SEEDLAND.COM. They carry large quantities of forage and pastureland grasses, although I didn't see Quackgrass on the list. They did have a hybrid that was a cross of Quackgrass and something else. They did have a large group of choices though, so I suspect your inquiry will be addressed by someone that knows the offerings.
Good luck with your search!

Wally, at least we know what kills the dreaded "KBG Weed" - determined, loving, expensive care. It always works. You just know patches of weeds like-dark green kentucky bluegrass, will break out on that quackgrass monostand!
