Split app of Pre emergent

Post by pristinegreen75 » August 2nd, 2020, 8:40 am

First time going with a split app Pre M this fall. I'm going to drop half app the 2nd or 3rd week of August. I've been searching the forums for a time period to drop the 2nd app and seem to get answers from "a little while later" to "several weeks later" etc. Is there an optimum time frame to as how long after the first app to drop the 2nd app?

I also do a split app of Prodiamine and it seems to be working well. Look at the data sheet for what you are applying, so you know the duration of protection, and back up from typical Forsyhia blooms in your area.

For my yard, I did Aug 20th in 2018, Aug 24th in 2019 and plan about the same for 2020. My rate is 0.15oz/k to get 5-6 months of protection. My goal is to get some Poa protection from Fall through the Spring, and then apply again when the Forsythia bloom (mid-March for me) to get crabgrass (et al) protections in the Spring, without exceeding the total annual allowed.

edslawn Is that 1.5 ounces weighed on a scale, or are you using the granules in a graduated cylinder?
