Do I need to kill crab grass before over seeding?

Hi,
I live in Missouri. My lawn is tall fescue. I did not use pre-emerge crabgrass preventer for my lawn back in Spring. And now crabgrass kind of taking over the back yard lawn and crabgrass seed is everywhere. I am going to over-seeding the lawn in mid - late September. Do I need to use post emerge herbicide to kill the crabgrass before over-seeding? I bought Tenacity in early Aug and thought it was late summer so I did not open it. But I just realized the past 3 -4 weeks the crabgrass have been growing and seeding into full bloom
