Still have time to see in SW pa?

Post by Adam_M » September 3rd, 2020, 4:54 pm

I had a rough summer and lost probably 6k of grass in the drought. I was trying to be patient and see what woke up, and not a lot did. I've normally dropped seed about 2 weeks earlier than this and the grass overwinters just fine but is definitely not mature.

So - still ok to drop seed or am I doomed to a spring seeding, short-term happiness, dead grass in the summer and a fall seeding in 2021?

This has been a rough couple years. I've had to cut the soul remediation plans short 2 years in a row and skip the aggressive n regimen. I'd really like to get back on track for 2021.

It seems that you are still in a great time to seed. Just so it right. You have three months or so of growing season left. I'm in South Central Pa so I'm familiar with your weather. I think your challenge will be finding good seed at this late date.

I bought the seed a couple months ago and have it stored cool and dry. I've played the chase the seed game before...

Good luck. I am seeding tomorrow on my reno area. I'm like a month late, considering the area gets shade (which is not ideal for KBG anyway). Not sure how it's going to work, but you're not the only one. Southern PA has more time left than Central CT anyway...an additional 2 weeks or so. You're not as late as me.
