2021: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?

I sprayed some 2,4d on weeds and grass in cracks in the driveway. At least I think it was 2,4d. It might have been soluble iron. I didn't label the sprayer.

If it kills the weeds and not the grass, it was 2,4d. If everything perks up and gets darker green, it was iron.

If it kills the weeds, but not the grass, I'll watch what happens to the blue grama. I know blue grama is a grass, but for some reason, most of the grasses in my lawn aren't listed as either controlled by or safe for use on any of the selective weed killers.

Somebody recently said to use CCO on speedwell. I'm hoping that plain old 2,4d will kill it and let the clover live (Iplanted clover on purpose, as did many people before anot the mid 60s), but I suspect the opposite will be the case. I tried hand pulling last year, but judging by this year's crop, that was a colossal waste of time.

I used CCO this year because I had a bumper crop of chickweed and speedwell and wanted to get ahead of it.
In the past however, spot spray of WBG took care of the speedwell along with other broadweeds.

'Round here, it's completely silent, only the sound of occasional rainfall after more than an inch last night. I have to respray the rabbit/deer repellent before darkfall if it stops (even, really, if it doesn't...)

It looks like it was 2,4d and not iron. Weeds are curling. And it looks like the blue grama isn't affected. It's going to heat up soon, so I'll spray tomorrow.

Dropped a 15k bag of starter fertilizer last night and this morning per my soil plan. Timed after yesterday’s 1-2” of rain and prior to today’s rain.

Ended up getting 2 1/2" rain over the weekend (according to my rain gauge).
So I'm thinking my fertilizer I dropped just before was probably wasted. (sigh)
Mowed yesterday and trimmed. More wet weather expected (showers/T-storms) later today, Thurs/Fri
Expecting hot/humid weather after that.
Thinking I should get a bag of disease ex................

Wow. Sorry to hear this.

Most up-to-date installers can run lines without trenching. They just need the proper equipment to “pull” the lines underground.

If you ever need to add zones, etc, I’d suggest finding a new installer.

Second application of Ortho WBG CCO (8% Triclopyr).

Good news, most of the broadleaf weeds are gone, hopefully today's app will get rid of the remaining clover and "mystery weed".

More Good news, grass has filled in nicely and the fertilizer app (and 1.1 in. of rain last weekend) has left me with a nice, green lawn (front yard looks pretty awesome from my upstairs window).

Not so good news, despite applying Dimension in spring some crabgrass has come up in a few spots in the front yard. Thinking of hitting it with next week with the Tenacity I have (and possibly any remaining clover and mystery weed, and some nimblewill which has come up recently).

I also saw some mold spots (around a 5 foot diameter area) in the back yard at the shed along the forest edge where there are lot of bare spots at the bottom of a sloped hill, guess the rain was a bit too much for that area. How do I treat it?

Mulch mowed, deadheaded and pruned knockout roses and fertilized them with Bayer Bioadvanced 2-in-1.

Lawn really looking great with a nice, deep-green color. The fertilizer / micronutrient recommendation from this spring is really appreciated!

4 gallons of "Liquid Fence" Deer Repellent applied to all Hosta in 92 degree heat. I feel (and smell) like Sam the Sewer Man.

Mulch mowed to remove the ugly seed heads at 96 degrees. It usually takes me 50 minutes and a nice walk. It took 2 hours and several breaks under a hanging fan set on Fast. My watch tells me my heart rate is 103 but at least my blood pressure is normal.
