Weed ID please

Post by southern-ct-4 » April 13th, 2021, 5:35 pm

The below are in my parent's lawn in NY (30 minutes north of NYC).

Oxalis maybe?

Sorry for the dropbox links, I wasn't able to embed the pics as I normally would.

Thank you.

I don't recognize it, but it ain't Oxalis - Oxalis looks like clover and has tiny yellow flowers after Memorial Day.

I'm 45 minutes north of NYC - what town are the parents in?

They are in Yorktown. I'll try to have them take more/better pics.

Are these of any help? Not the greatest pics... Next time I'm at their house I can take 'professional' weed ID photos if necessary :)

Is this bittercress as well (I think it is). If so, is there a bittercress issue this year? I've never really seen this in my yard before, but I've got it cropping up in may 'bad' places around my yard (edges by the woods, near the deck, flower beds...) but fortunately not too much in the actual lawn. I'm also seeing major instances on some of my neighbors' yards, where it literally looks like they planted 10x10 ft sections of it!

I am seeing the same thing here... My neighbors/ entire block have a ton! Luckily, I have been dealing with it just in a thin area of grass.

I have quite a bit that popped up in the lawn this year, never seen so much before in my yard. Appears to be bittercress to me. A little spot spray of weed b gon last weekend seems to be doing the trick. It's looking hurt now, but might give it another hit just to be sure.

I’ve had success with Ortho CCO (thriclopyr) against hairy bittercress and chickweed—I’m not sure which is in you picture.
