Re: 2022: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
Just applied Grubex due to rain in the forecast later today and later tomorrow.
On Thursday April 14th applied WBG to the mix salad of weeds popping up.
Lawn is close to needing its first mow. Probably Monday or Tuesday (weather permitting)

Re: 2022: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
In the morning, I "hid" about 90 candy filled plastic eggs for the annual neighborhood Easter egg hunt. I put hid in quotation marks because most of the kids who participate agree really young, so it works best if the eggs are in plain sight.
In the afternoon, I picked up about 40 eggs that the kids didn't. I told one of my neighbors that he should tell his kids I need help picking up the lefftover eggs, but they didn't get the hint.
Then I mowed the lawn (manual reel mower).

Mulch mowed, spot sprayed cool season grassy weeds with a non-selective herbicide.

Snow flurries yesterday.
Temp 29 with light frost this morning...
Tomorrow lots of rain predicted..... maybe.
I thought on Saturday that I may need to do a 1st mow Mon. or Tues.
Apparently I was wrong.

Re: 2022: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
Started fixing my molybdenum, copper, and boron issues in the lawn. I'm unsure of whether I'm getting rain or a bit of sleet today (it's probably rain, it's getting way too warm). So even though we're getting within organic feeding ranges for the lawn, it just feels way too early due to the temperature--I went really light and only used 1 bag of EcoScraps over 10,000 square feet.

put down Grub Ex yesterday afternoon. Got about 1.5 inches of rain overnight from Nor Easter. Glad I don't have to break out the timers and hoses yet.

First mow of the year. Edging, mulch and put down GrubEx.
Haven't turned on the irrigation yet, and most likely will wait until May.

Started a new chapter and am joining the robot mower club; installed 10% of the boundary wire so far due to time and weather today.
While I love walk-behind mowers, my workload increased and I needed some help. Adopted an "acceptable, open box" Husqa 430XL on Amazon that arrived brand new in a slightly open box (meaning, it was previously opened, but everything was intact, as expected, sealed, etc). Am hoping it can tackle the slopes surrounding my property.

Re: 2022: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
If you find it can't, adding 1 kg of lead weights (scuba lead weights work a charm) around the back axle really help. I've done so on my Landroid and it's improved the performance amazingly. It's gone from fouling up way too much to working perfectly almost all the time. When it does foul up, the reason is identifiable.RTM wrote: ↑April 19th, 2022, 10:04 pmStarted a new chapter and am joining the robot mower club; installed 10% of the boundary wire so far due to time and weather today.

Thanks for the input, Morpheus. I learned a lot about lawn care and robot mowers from you over the years.

Mowed a good portion of the lawn today. The yard is pretty soggy in some spots, we’ve gotten quite a bit of precipitation this month.

Re: 2022: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
Started actually thinking about 2022 lawn maintenance for the first time this year. Other than playing "pick up sticks" a couple weeks ago, the lawn hasn't received any attention since last fall, and 2021 was a bit of a lesser-maintenance year for us.
So far today, we've mowed the lawn at it's "first cut of the year" height of 2.75" (after a late fall cut at 2.25" to get it short to reduce snow mold issues) even though it really hadn't grown enough to need mowing. Mostly the mowing just mulched up the oak leaves that have accumulated over the winter.
We also collected our 2022 soil sample to get it sent off to Logan Labs. Should be able to post it in a week or so.
Have a list of more tasks to do on the lawn today, most importantly including applying pre-emergent, as the forsythia are blooming at our neighbors house, and have been doing so for about a week so far...

Watched my robomower tackle 35 degree (not percent) slopes like a charm. Laid down some mulch while monitoring how it handled.

You and Morph are scaring me... I really like my tractor time! To say nothing of the thoughts of Skynet and being subservient to the robots.

Re: 2022: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
Busy few weeks... This weekend (and last), I was spreading wood chips that cover much of the perimeter of my yard. I have the three dogs trained to use it for their business so the grass is doing well in back. It was about 30 yards of chip material, so I'm pooped. I also dropped milo at the bag rate, sprayed for various weeds and patched some bare spots using "nursery" grass.
The grass is really looking great after several years of soil conditioning and following advice from this forum. Really impressive (both the site and my lawn)!
