Mowed the side yard. Took the weed eater to patches that are tall enough that the mower pushed them instead of cutting them.

Spread humic dg.

Things are slow here yet, seeing the first consistent days of over 50 degree ground temp. Put down Scott's crabgrass preventer (no fertilizer) and picked up a ton of sticks. Won't have to mow for about a week yet, plotting my feeding strategy (Phillies) for the year. This late start to spring certainly mixes up the calendar a bit.

Mowed what I could…the ground is really saturated right now. Applied Disease Ex on 10k, as I have some red thread in the turf. Sprayed off the zero turn, jacked it up and scraped all the grass clippings off the deck. Gotta go visit Mom 😎 and ran outta time to sharpen the blades

Started sending Olivia out to hack it down after three days of tropical rainfall. Meanwhile, I continued planting the back gardens--until I reached the point where I considered dropping the last 300 plants in a big pile and hoping they crawl out and find their own homes like responsible adults.

I've been trying to wrangle my mother-in-law's lawn as she's hoping to sell in the next year or two. Right now it's about 50% weeds and has some bare spots. Overseed planned for the fall. Today, I put down some lime and a 12-12-12 fertilizer. According to a soil test she had done at the agricultural extension, her soil is acidic and low in P & K. Sprayed TZone and Tenacity to try and hit the weeds back a bit.

Have the back yard a mow. Mowed the side and front a second time to get what didn't get mowed the first time around.

Mowed entire yard (push mowed and bagged a few poa annua areas) & sprayed tenacity in various parts to try and figure out what's what (poa triv, annua, other stuff?)...

Finally caught up on the early-season lawn care tasks! We always seem to be short of time to get them all done, which keeps us from posting about them here, as we figure it's more important for us to be working on the lawn than to make postings about working on the lawn!

In any case, we have now caught up, with each of the following completed during the past couple weeks:
  • Picked up twigs and sticks throughout lawn
  • Sprayed prodiamine at 3-month rate within one week after initial forsythia blooms seen on next door neighbor's property
  • Divided hosta to a newly-created landscape bed in back of house where grass has declined due to insufficient sunlight (even fine fescue cultivars for shade)
  • Divided day lilies to a newly-created flower bed in front of a huge boulder (car-sized) at edge of our property that we better revealed by clearing brush
  • Sprayed initial Liquid Fence Deer & Rabbit Repellent on tulips, lily plants, and emerging hosta plants (so far, so good!)
  • Mowed lawn for first time on portions that have needed it (lawn now all woken up except side lawn with Bewitched KBG)
  • Spread Bay State Fertilizer with Sulfate of Potash at bag rate on entire lawn
  • Spread Scotts GrubEx1 at bag rate on entire lawn
  • Sprayed 2,4-D on patches of unidentified broadleaf weeds in area renovated 1.5 years ago
  • Hand-pulled various Poa annua plants from throughout lawn as they've been observed (by different color and starting to show distinctive seedheads) - still many left to pull, though!
  • Observed (but haven't yet dealt with) two significant (approx 2' square) patches with Poa trivialis in front lawn (plan is to glyphosate, then remove sod, replacing with donor patches of KBG that have invaded flower beds, supplementing with plugs if needed)
  • Collected soil sample (before new fertilization) and sent to Logan Labs (just sent today!)

Ken-n-Nancy, y’all have been busy!

Today I mowed some, changed the oil on my zero turn. Ran the weed eater, sprayed Tenacity on an 9k sq ft section.

Picked up twigs and sticks?

You don't mulch more them? I've got a manual reel mower and only pick up the ones that cause a sudden stop (ok, that's most of them).

Yes, the mower really doesn't make them as small as I'd like, having them end up about the size of popsicle sticks or pencils. There's a lot of them, too -- seems like our oaks and maples shed a lot of small twigs and sticks every year!

Got a mow in last night and put down some DiseaseX at the preventative rate. We're supposed to get pretty consistent rain every two or three day over the next few weeks and don't want a repeat of last year. Yard is starting to fill in the holes from last year and the glyphosate is killing the few spots of Triv. Waiting on my Tenacity to be delivered to do a blanket spray of that on some of the larger patches.

Got the last part of the GrubEx down before rainfall. We got a tenth of an inch of rainfall twenty minutes later...

My grass has exploded over the last few weeks. I'm cutting at 4" and still need to do it twice a week or it is far too long to mulch. Keeping up with it this time of year is a full time job!

I applied Milorganite at bag rate to 8k front lawn. I've been mowing every three days.

Mowed tonight and found disease again in my lawn... :banghead: DiseaseEx only just watered in with the rain on Sunday, so hoping it will take care of it.
