Dropped Prodiamine 1 tbsp/K and Scott’s Lawn Food 3lbs/K prior to rain tonight. It’s officially fall!

Re: 2022: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
Applied Milo about 10 days ago and got 1" of rain the next day.
Sunday I deceided to drop my synthetic fertilizer with rain predicted finally ....
since Sunday night however we've had a total of 4" of rain and it's still raining.
I know we needed the rain but I'm hoping the first day of rain (which was a nice light rain)
was beneficial to the fertilizer
Oh well..........

Staring at some brown spots I had in the lawn I thought were dormant but now aren't coming back with all the rain and cooler weather we are having. Fearing these sections are dead which I have never had happen.

First frost here also this morning. Average date is Oct. 9 so it's right on schedule.
Since I posted last about lack of rainfall in the summer.... and thought the lawn was a loss
We have had a total of 8+ inches of rain thus far since the end of August.
Back yard came back pretty good.
Front yard.... will need some tweaking next year.
I lowered my HOC to 2" and keeping up with mulch mowing the oak leaves blowing in from my neighbor's yard.
My only complaint is....
The neighbor down the street feeds the chipmunks so we are over run with them.
They keep making deep holes in my lawn.

There are about 4 in my entire yard and maybe anywhere from 1ft all around to maybe 2-3ft? Just looks like dormant grass sections that have not yet popped which makes me believe they may not?bpgreen wrote: ↑October 7th, 2022, 3:35 pmHow big are these patches?bauer time wrote: ↑October 7th, 2022, 11:11 amStaring at some brown spots I had in the lawn I thought were dormant but now aren't coming back with all the rain and cooler weather we are having. If the grass hasn't bounced back with rains, it's more likely that it's dead rather than just dormant.bauer time wrote: ↑October 10th, 2022, 7:26 amThere are about 4 in my entire yard and maybe anywhere from 1ft all around to maybe 2-3ft? The reason I asked amit the size of the dead patches is that KBG can fill in some patches. There role of thing I've read is that it can fill in a patch about the size of a finger plate in one season. Those sound bigger than that. You can help it along by translating plugs from lusher areas into the middle of the dead spots so it's spreading from the inside out as well as from the outside in.

Yeah that's kind of what I thought. I'm just going to get through winter and check them out in the spring. I hate to spring seed, but these aren't large sections so it might be ok to do.bpgreen wrote: ↑October 10th, 2022, 11:20 pmIf the grass hasn't bounced back with rains, it's more likely that it's dead rather than just dormant.bauer time wrote: ↑October 10th, 2022, 7:26 amThere are about 4 in my entire yard and maybe anywhere from 1ft all around to maybe 2-3ft? Yesterday, I put down my last regular season urea. Just before we got 1/4 inch of rain hopefully enough to wash it in.

Re: 2022: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
It's supposed to rain pretty much all day tomorrow and Sunday, with a good chance for rain much of the rest of the week.
So yesterday, even though it's really late in the season, I threw some crested wheatgrass seed down in bare spots. Since it's a grass that originated in Siberia, maybe it'll do ok. I'm really constrained by being unable to water (especially problematic in a desert state in a multi year drought).
Today, I put down balanced fertilizer with boron.
I mowed a few days ago, but only the side and back yard.
