Got Olivia, the Landroid, back up and running. Which was harder than it sounds, there was a break in the wire that took three hours to find.

I also found a small bit of P. annua that got sprayed.

Home depot had a sale on fast acting lime last week, so I bought a couple of bags.

I finally got around to spreading it today.
I thought maybe somebody who remembered that I have a limestome quarry would bite, but I guess anybody who remembered noticed the date of the post.

Nope, missed it. :-)

I spent the day before the rain getting the Off Limits part of Olivia running, so the trees are ringed in magnetic barriers that "bounce" the Landroid. It's also got a neat feature where two parallel lines of the magnetic strip across the border signal line will cause the robot, when returning to home base, to take a left turn and short-cut the return cycle. Potentially, that can make a big return loop into a very small one.

I added six shortcuts to the return path to cut down on the potential size of the return Olivia has to take (if she misses her base by accident, which she does sometimes, it makes a 650 foot round trip into a 70 foot round trip with two left turns). Neat feature. And she'll always skip the swale if possible.

What did you hit the P. Annua with? I found some in the lawn today (thankfully not as much as last year)

Temps were low 50s but I mowed about 2k sq ft today. Grass was shabby in some spots and it was nice to get the push mower out and walk some.

I put Prodiamine down on 3 1/2 acres of my lawn today. One acre of it which I renovated about 7 years ago I put down 1.5 lbs (Prodiamine WDG). The next 2 acres, one was renovated 2 years ago and the other last year, I put it down and a lighter rate in case I decide to overseed this fall. Due to the size of my yard I have to rely on mother nature for irrigation. We are supposed to get rain several days this week so hopefully it works out.

I mowed today. The little kid across the cul de sac was fascinated by my mower (a fiskars manual reel mower).

I also spot sprayed 2,4d.

Tenacity. People report variable results. It always works very well for me.

Mulch mowed grass high tops, spot sprayed cool season grassy weeds with a non-selective herbicide.

Mulch mowed first time this season, good to see that carpet green look again (at least in some parts of the lawn :) )

I put down prodiamine at 1.5 Tsp/gallon rate, and sprayed whatever Poa Trivialis I could find. I didn't spot much after going hard after it with Mesotrione last year. Last year I had major infestation of poa annua. I have very little of this as well. My experience is that early spring Mesotrione is very effective against both trivialis and annua.

Put down prodiamine, checked on milo prices (now in stock, cheapest I found is $13 per 40 lb. bag), watched the afternoon drizzle come in, searched for the Donations Bucket for this site (help?). Wondering if we are really done with snow for the year.

Actually yesterday, 4/12. Sharpened mower blades, changed oil and (barely) finished the first mow of the season in between the raindrops and interference from Noah and his ark.

Cut down Echinacea stalks from last year. Threw them in the yard and mulched mowed. (first mow) Fescue really going gang busters. KBG back yard turning very dark green but not growing much yet. Always the last to awaken.

Mowed the front. Ran the weed eater. The township guys came thru last fall and did a number on our bank where the drain runs out to. Over the winter the soil kept eroding. Today I put new soil down, seeded and put an erosion mat down. I just need something to fill in and hold the soil

Dropped 2 pounds per K of potassium sulfate and cursed the mailman for, once again, deciding it was mildly inconvenient to deliver a package that was paid to be delivered today and therefore not bothering to do so (it happens about 65% of the time; I complain to the Postmaster General an average of once every 3 months, my delivery person and I have a very strained relationship). The copper adjustment has to wait.
