Poa Trivialis

Post by bob0755 » May 7th, 2022, 10:10 am

Hi:

Is this what I think it is (poa trivialis)? :x :x :x

And yes, I am stupid enough to want to try Certainty (cautious dose to at least contain it).

Hard to tell, actually. When in doubt, I spray with Tenacity. If it whitens, it was P. triv. :-)

Does annua not whiten with Tenacity? If not, what happens to annua when hit with tenacity? Does it just (hopefully) start dying off after a few doses?

Annua also whitens, and (hopefully) dies after a few doses as well. It does depend on the weather, when you did it, and so on, of course...

Definitely Triv in the above photo. That's one of the wide bladed/coarse types. Glyphosate and Sulfosulfuron both are extremely effective independently at killing this type in my experience.

Agreed. Spray and, possibly, nuke it from orbit.

I nuked so much triv in my front yard this spring, i don't have much of a yard left.

That, mixed with an excessive amount of loss for snow mold, has resulted in a very bad spring.
