What generally happens if I don't treat fungus (red thread in particular)?
Assuming the below is red thread, what most likely happens if I ignore it?
Aside from the big patch below, there's bits and pieces here and there throughout most of front yard.
With new puppy I'm hesitant to put down fungicide (on the other hand, is it worse for puppy if left untreated, as she is often in the yard...)?
If I should treat it, is there a particular fungicide that's more pet-friendly than others?
Thanks!

Continued damage, if you don’t treat it. It won’t kill the grass. You’ll just think it’s dead. It will regrow and repeat until you get it under control.
Treatment can include appropriate feedings, since it is a low-fertility environment pathogen. But that approach can take a long time to completely deal with the problem.
I’d suggest a trip to Home Depot or site one. There are fungicides that can deal with red thread. Just read the label.

Yeah, that's a bit much. I get rust. I ignore that. Sometimes a touch of red thread, but it's rare and doesn't last long and only when conditions are right (they're rarely right and I feed a lot).
I wouldn't ignore that.

Thanks. I'll hit that area with fungicide. Otherwise there's just a few small spots here and there of either rust or red thread. I'll monitor those and see how it goes (and will hit them if necessary as well).
