New Grass turning Yellow

Post by Adam_M » October 22nd, 2022, 3:24 pm

I re-seeded pasts of my lawn this year - seed down was early September. The grass eventually came around and germinated, but I've got areas that are turning yellow - most prominently in areas where I have heavy runoff, but there are small spots elsewhere too. The blades are yellow, but are not crispy/dry in the least.

Any ideas of what's going on? I'm not so sure there's anything to be done this late in the fall, but wouldn't mind being ready to move in the spring.

Thanks!

This time of year, it could be a lot of different things. Localized dormancy. Fungal issues, etc.

Is it worth dropping an antifungal? Yes, I know diagnosing fungus using a photo over the internet is imperfect in the best cases and impossible in many. I don't know what would be active now or its life cycle to consider if I should treat something that isn't positively identified.

I’d take a sample to your local county coop extension for analysis, if it were me.
