Dropping fert w/o rain
Can I drop fertilizer this time of year without watering it in?
I don't have irrigation. In NJ. Thanks.

Well right now you’re at the time of year where you don’t want to fertilize, likely past your average first frost date. I’d wait for growth to fully stop and then fertilize.

Re: Dropping fert w/o rain
I have a large yard I treat without irrigation. My practice is to wait until soil temps get to around 50 degrees. Then I wait until the next forecasted rain. I use straight urea, and depending on what you are actually putting down will dictate how much you’ll lose by it sitting in the ground without rain. I’d wait for a forecasted rain before I would out it down blindly without water.
What fertilizer are you planning on putting down?
