New Pre-M AI / mode of action in the works

Post by Green » February 7th, 2024, 4:40 pm

There is supposedly a new pre-emergent active ingredient in the works, called Pethoxamid. It's not on the market just yet, but the research has been done.

This is important because everything else we have for cool season lawns (Dithiopyr, Prodiamine, Pendimethalin, Benfluralin, and Trufluralin) all have similar modes of action, which means resistance can become an issue even when these are rotated.

Another good thing about Pethoxamid is supposed to be that it doesn't prune roots.

This would be the first new pre-M for cool season grass in decades.

Correction above: Trifluralin (not Trufluralin).
