I'm sidelined this season with a Valentine's Day accident. I missed the last step going down some stairs and tore my quad tendon. My wife has been doing the lawn work so far. By way of reporting the current state of affairs, we only had a few days of cold weather this year. Spring weeds started in December. We have had plenty of rains which seems to have awoken the bermuda but not the St Augustine. Bermuda seems to be taking over in the front creeping inward from the street. I'm not particularly afraid of that, because the St Augustine will dominate once it comes back to life. We do have a bad spot in the front which, according to Google Street View, began years before we bought the house (2022). No amount of organic fertilizer has made a difference. This year, once I get my digging leg back, I'm going to replace some of the bad grass with new grass from a local nursery. I had an excellent experience with that grass when we lived in Bandera. It spread quickly and thoroughly to cover bermuda and other wild grasses we had out there. I'm almost ready to walk without crutches, so my first lawn task will be spraying atrazine to wipe out these weeds.
