Newly laid sod issues

Post by Oklahomabreakdown » September 3rd, 2014, 8:12 am

So we are very new to this landscaping idea but enjoy it very much. 14 days ago we planted 20 pallets of turf grass hybrid bermuda sod and installed an irrigation system. The first week applied approximately 2.1 inches of irrigation and about half of that the second week. Most of the grass has turned a beautiful green as some is still yellow and seems to be fading fast. The irrigation system is hitting these spots at the same rate that the greener spots are getting watered. No fertilizer has been put down at this time. What would cause some of the spots to still be yellow?
Thanks so much for any

I would try pulling those areas up and looking underneath. Could have some debris underneath? Could have some errosion of soil under so roots aren't making contact...?

Those could have been sod pieces on top of pallet - maybe roots got a little sun burned?

Just try to maybe give those areas a little more TLC with hose on watering days. Especially if you start tapering back on watering a lot.

Well I fertilized it yesterday with scotts green max. Hope that didn't do it more harm? Thanks for all the suggestions. Keep them coming for I know nothing about it. Thanks so much.

Impossible to over fertilize Bermuda, even new sod. Did you apply a Starter Fertilizer like your sod farm directed?

Was the lawn rolled after the sod was installed? The Scotts Starter fertilizer is just fine BTW!!!
