Re: Paspalum
I should have taken pics, but the turf is in full blown seedhead mode right now. I feel like one of the Bermuda guys now.

Re: Paspalum
You may have seen the thread where I'm considering installing a 1000' putting green.
Knowin what you know now, would you recommend paspalum or should I take the safer bet with a drawf bermuda?

I would be more concerned with site preparation that cultivar selection.tigertailbell wrote:You may have seen the thread where I'm considering installing a 1000' putting green.

If you choose to go with Paspalum I would go with SeaDwarf. It is a true dwarf Paspalum while a few other varieties like mine exhibit dwarf characteristics when cut below 1/4"
The only warning I will offer is that Paspalum is very sensitive to being scalped.
My personal opinion would be go with Champion for this project

Re: Paspalum
Bird taking a nap on previous trouble spot #1
Opened up some airspace with the pro plugger for a couple areas that seem to dry out faster than than rest of the lawn
New Unfavorable spot by power utility box #1
New Unfavorable spot by power utility box #2
The newly noted unfavorable spots are adjacent to my power box which reflect a ton of heat and get cooked and do not get favorable coverage due to utility light pole blocking. They've actually been unfavorable for a while, but didn't give an focus to them since I was working on other areas. I previously tested a 12x12 in this same area and in a little over a month it has seen 90% recovery(bottom right of photo 4)

Backfill yes, sand nohambone79 wrote:Are you gonna backfill those with sand?
Going to do a compost/sawdust mix. A majority of spots lacked ability to hold moisture due to coarse sand in the soil profile.
i wonder how beneficial it would be to drill into the soil a foot or more

This will inject air into the soil about 12 inches deep. This is one of many videos out there for this type of equipment.Southernguy311 wrote:Backfill yes, sand nohambone79 wrote:Are you gonna backfill those with sand?

Re: Paspalum
I'm thinking about doing something like this on a smaller and way less automated level. I am thinking of ether using using something like this http://www.homedepot.com/p/Ames-24-in-P ... /206297060 or renting an auger with a 4" or 6" bit and doing this in just certain parts of my yard.

I use the full editor and use the "video" tab to insert the YouTube link.

Re: Paspalum
Yeah, I think that would get the job done too!!!
You could always get a long drill bit and do it yourself as long as it isn't a large area.

YouTube
BL/ATY only recognizes YouTube.com with the /video tag. Links to youtu.be and the like wont work. Google uses some of those quirky links when using a mobile device.
