Also notice that the front yard is still pretty patchy. It really struggled last summer and is making tons of progress but still has a ways to go. I suspect areas of debris out there but haven't had much time to do anything about it. Also I'm dealing with moderate crabgrass and sedge/kylinga this year. I'm switching to a spray able pre-M this year hoping it will give me better control of where I'm getting product down. I must have missed all my boarders last spring with the spreader, LOL.

I bunch of water and a recent fertilizer application helped. I can't wait to start mowing the lawn shorter and get it thick. Now all I need is a greens mower for my 22000 sq feetrough-cut wrote:I bet your neighbors hate you!

Re: 2016 Southern Lawn Pics
So the past month and a half since having to raise it to 2" i have been watering the grass every 3 or 4 days to keep up with this drought and every section i had to leave it for 15 to 20 minutes just to get the ground a little soft. I missed 2.5 weeks of mowing due to a vacation and thats the reason i had to move it up from 1" to 2" on the mower. I noticed the bermuda after about 2 or 3 days was getting puffy in a lot of areas and wasnt growing the way i wanted. I should have taken a before picture. It did have a lush deep green color to it but was way higher than i wanted and looked like Mussgolf's lawn!
I tried cutting getting back down to 1" but it was impossible with the heat and timing so i dropped it to 1.5" and cut the front, bag the clippings, and cut again and repeated that for the back. I have 6 of those lowes grass bags filled to the top and spent a good 3 to 4 hours doing this! I dropped some fertilizer down in time for all this rain we are hopefully going to get and it should green up in a week or so.
Getting ready for all this Austin rain we are about to get!

Nice scalp! That's gonna look great when it grows back out.
Only a bermuda grower can appreciate a good reset scalp.
Since you scalped to 1", what height will you let it get back to?
Be sure to post pics!

Thanks man! I wish i could have scalped at 1" i could only drop it to 1.5" on the mower. From about 2.25" down to 1.5" it took me a long time.. the sun really sucks the life out of you. I am going to try to maintain it at 1.5" When i try the lowest setting on my mower it creates a lot of half moons in the yard and looks bad..Michael Wise wrote:Nice scalp!
