Thanks,
Aggressive... how shallow can you set it, I have not used a verticut. In short, do not want to trash all gains from this season and start over.

With all due respect for the challenges of maintaing an exemplary Bermuda lawn, I have only one question: are you guys more interested in mowing or growing a Bermuda lawn??

For me both, it's a challenge I haven't meet, trying to meet a goal I set seasons ago watching MQ's thread. A exemplary lawn north or south takes effort with both. I lied, not about MQ's inspiration but mowing and satisfaction after... maybe a little neighbor envy.

Quick update. Cut at 11/16, a couple weeks after PGR. Back in town and have a lot of sedge coming up, need to get on top of weed control.

You can set it pretty shallow, not too sure what that would translate in inches, but enough to knock out the high spots. Have in mind that it is not a overnight fix, but it will level your lawn over the years. I would wait fir your turf to thicken up tho before you try one. Try spot leveling? Lawn is looking great btw!!

Thanks,
Agreed, next season, incremental progress. For others leveling do not skip this important step, as I did.

Maybe nutsedge and some sort of crabgrass?

First is definitely nutsedge. I agree that the 2nd is likely crabgrass, but that one is a little questionable.

The first looks a bit more like kyllinga or however it's spelled, does it have any seedheads that you've seen? The second I have no idea whatsoever.

I had a couple of the first one appear in my lawn as well, and pulled them by hand on Wednesday. They seemed like nutsedge, but I always thought nutsedge was taller and thinner (less leaves branching outward), so I was confused by that. I didn't see any seedheads.

Crabgrass was a total guess on the other.

Edit: Maybe I've always had yellow nutsedge, and this one is purple nutsedge?

Thanks All!

Have not noticed any seedheads yet. A couple weeks back I sprayed everything with Celcius these were the only two weeds that persisted. I sprayed sedgehammer on both the survivors yesterday. Guess I'll wait, see and hit the second with Celcius again if needed.

The pic, a small portion of the side yard and a common area that the HOA takes minimal care of. Going to nuke it, level, sod.

Considering the piece of property is on the tree line, are you going to try and stay with Bermuda?

Yes, the common area gets plenty of sun. Closer to the house it might not take well, it's facing north and will probably fade.

I will finish the bulk of the work this season on the front lawn. Waiting for next season then the next, just doesn't sense. Pull the band-aid off!
