Bermudagrass germination vs. Weeds

Post by CLT Original » May 9th, 2017, 5:21 pm

Hi all, Im looking for suggestions as to controlling weeds (mainly crabgrass) in newly germinated bermuda area. Im fearful that new grass will get "shaded" out. I have a weed torch, Celsius, and 2,4-D on hand... I appreciate any input

Unfortunately, I don't think there's much you do without risking killing the young grass. Just let the grass take root which would safely be in about a month or so. I suggest tackling the young weeds as you see them by hand in an effort not to damage the new grass growth. Once your new grass has established itself then maybe some herbicide...but, do as much by hand as reasonably possible.
