New Bermuda sod - Random thick blades
Hello, new poster here so please forgive me if I haven't done this correctly.
First off I want to say thank you for all of the awesome info on this site. I purchased a new home in Northeast GA which had dormant sod laid in January. Due to all of the advice here, I have already turned it into a beautiful established lawn by using Milo, topdressing (sand/compost/top soil for cracks and pot holes), and proper watering.
However, there are two to three individual pieces of tifway 419 that have much thicker and wider spaced blades than the rest of my yard. I didn't notice it until after my first nitrogen application. The turf is healthy, but it has much wider blades that are spaced out much more than the rest of my lawn. Is it possible that a different type of sod got mixed in, or could this be caused by something in the soil? I have a sandy (50%) clay (25%) and sadly there are a TON of rocks buried about 6 -8" below the surface (thanks builders). However, everywhere else looks marvelous and it has the same conditions.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Charles

Here are images of the issue I described. It's not horrible, but your u can clearly see the difference from a distance. First two pics are the thicker blades with more space between them, and the next 2 pictures are the "normal turf" that makes up 95% of my yard.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Can't tell much on account of the pics being the size of a postage stamp, but in the first pic it looks like you might have orchardgrass or some other grassy weed that hitched a ride in the sod. Let a small patch of it grow uncut for a while to see what it turns into.

Re: New Bermuda sod - Random thick blades
Thanks for the advice. I apologize for the pictures, I do not know how to make them larger. They looked normal on my iPhone (which is what I used to post them). Sorry, I'm still new to this site and I'm still learning how to post things properly.
It definitely looks like a different type of grass/weed but when I plucked out a piece, it had a similar structure to the Bermuda, it was just much much thicker (blades and stems). I can tell something is up though because it's basically just two entire pieces of sod that have this makeup and it sticks out very clearly when within 50 ft of sight. I will take your advice and see what happens. I will also try to take better pictures of the development and try to post a larger version on here when able.
Thanks again for taking the time to check it out!
