Bermuda height

Post by GreenerBermuda » June 1st, 2020, 1:55 pm

I've been cutting my Bermuda at 2" and am just not happy w results and greening. A neighbor is cutting lower than an inch and getting great results.... But he has different sun lighting.
What height should I cut my Bermuda at? I'm reading 1". That's dropping my blade 1/2 the height of the grass.

Not an expert, but my understanding is you should cut it as low as possible. That's why reel mowers are preferred for bermuda over rotary because you can cut it lower. I would suggest you cut part of the lawn low and watch the results. The beauty of bermuda is even if you make a mistake you won't kill it, and it will fill back in the bare spots.

As low as possible, without scalping. If your lawn isn't level and is bumpy, it's going to be difficult to get down to 1" and less.

Your neighbor may have leveled his lawn. Yours might be fine. Drop it a notch and see how it looks. Scalping, raise it back and deal with leveling. Check this forum for the leveling topics.

There are many things your neighbor might be doing different that you don't recognize. Simply watering properly makes a huge difference as indicated in this picture from morpheuspa.

Morph's is the green one watered once per week. The rest were watered daily.
