Zenith Zoysia and Drainage

Post by Madboy76 » September 13th, 2021, 9:24 am

Had an addition completed last year and the backyard was done with Zenith Zoysia (to limit growth over flagstone). The back of the yard was not graded well and remains wet almost constantly. Live in Metro Atlanta and rainfall has been up last 3 years. Been fighting disease, treating monthly. I would like to rectify the drainage so that this area is healthy and useful.
First thought was to top dress with 1/2 of sand to level out the ground, and then repeat following year(s) until grade is consistent with drainage needs. Note, water is not puddling much, just constantly wet and muddy.
Anyone have ideas for the best way to improve this without redoing the whole area?
Thanks!

I believe the easiest way out is the route you identified. There are other ways, but they are more work. Sand is good as is topsoil if you can crush the clods out of the topsoil.
