Freshly Laid Emerald Zoysia Sod - Problem?

Post by SFAJeff » August 13th, 2023, 9:34 pm

I am in Dallas so it has been around 106 here. Hired a guy to lay down Emerald Zoysia sod in my backyard where we had the pool removed. On Monday they tilled and laid down topsoil. Most of the sod was laid down on Tuesday, but they ran out, so the remainder (about 14 pieces) was laid down on Friday. They also rolled everything on Friday.

I have been watering 3 times per day for 20 minutes at 4am, 2pm, and 10pm. I have these dead/dorment sod pieces (not sure which) that I have also been watering by hand. I have to pay the company tomorrow and am curious if these pieces are anything to be concerned about or just keep doing what I am doing?

You've probably already paid them, but they should replace the dead pieces of sod. Also they should have smushed the sod pieces up against each other instead of leaving those huge gaps between them. Also they should not have tilled and added topsoil, but all that is water under the bridge.
Overall it was a shoddy sod job.
