Celsius Herbicide!!
I went to JDL last week to pick up some more Iron Plus and asked what they had for weed control and they rep told me about this stuff Celcius. It controls a whole list of weeds both broadleaf and grassy ones and is safe to use above 85F. So I purchased a 10 oz bottle for $85!! Now that being said it only takes .133 oz per 1K if you are doing a broadcast application, I just use it for spot spraying and .133 oz in a gallon of water was plenty for me!! So one bottle sprayed at maximum application rate would cover 88,000 sq/ft roughly. It also supposedly has a 60 day residual effect also!! After reading the label, you can spray it on newly seeded Bermuda after 2 weeks of emergence without any harm. It really seems to have a lot of promise, I sprayed some weeds on Monday and they are already starting to die or have died. The rep did say it is not one of those weed killers that kills stuff quickly but the label says you should see effects in 1 to 4 weeks and the hotter it is the better it works!!!! This could be our version of Tenacity for Southern Lawns!!
On a side note, after I was done spraying my lawn, I had some left over so I sprayed it on the neighbors lawn which is a weed farm and has a lot of mature weeds growing and it seems to be killing those off also!!! Read the label it seems to be pretty good stuff!!!!

Re: Celcius Herbicide!!
Reviving an old thread.
Just had to say, I love this stuff.
I've had to broadcast spray 2 - 4500 sq. ft. areas of my lawn that had a bunch of weeds intermingled all over the place.
It's been hot both times, and has worked great. I don't even know what weeds I'm killing, but they're dying and my grass isn't, so I don't give a $h1!

Re: Celcius Herbicide!!
I saw you mention it in another post and was wondering if you picked some up. I think it is the best thing for weeds I have ever used and especially in high temps. I still have a bunch of it left too!!

Yeah it works great. I use this to kill off most of my weeds, especially clovers. Works very well on others also. I have Celsius WG, not sure if this the same exact thing or not.

Re: Celcius Herbicide!!
What rate do you guys use?
I've used the middle rate both times and had total kill of every weed it touched.

Re: Celcius Herbicide!!
I have to admit that I don't usually use it as a broadcast spray since I have very few weeds if ever in my lawn. So when I am using it as a spot spray I will go with the full rate and a little MSO.

Looks like Home depot is not carrying this. Please suggest some stores in Dallas area.

John Deere Landscapes is where I think most people buy theirs at. Just FYI you get 10 oz. for $85 but that 10 oz. will last you a long long time!!!

Old thread, but it's the Celsius time of the year.Mightyquinn wrote:John Deere Landscapes is where I think most people buy theirs at. Just FYI you get 10 oz. for $85 but that 10 oz. will last you a long long time!!!
How long are you waiting after application to cut? I put some down with a little spreader sticker and tracker dye mixed in yesterday. I want to cut so bad but I don't want to waste my app.
Thoughts?

I think there should be recommendations in the label.BfranksATX wrote:

Re: Celcius Herbicide!!
I usually spray in the evening and then mow the next day, but now with Primo Maxx I can go longer between mowings so it's a non issue. The good thing with Primo is that the weeds out grow the grass so it is easy to find them after a couple days of mowing.

Re: Celcius Herbicide!!
That's it...I'm getting some of this stuff tomorrow. When spraying it in 90 degree temps, does it affect the color of Bermuda? If so, how much and how long before it recovers? I can't make up for neglect in the past--just fix it going forward. But I'm not sitting out here pulling weeds every night until dark. I've already taken soil samples and sending those off to Logan Labs tomorrow. Getting with the Bermuda Bible pre-em program this fall and starting a regular fertilization program/amending the soil once the test results come back. The yard doesn't look that bad overall-just one corner the clover has taken over. I've got blisters on my hands from digging that $hit up. Wearing me out!
I don't have a scale to measure in grams-does it come with a measuring cup or something that's somewhat accurate? I'm ready to spray this crap even if I have to do it myself. Husband is busy building a new deck and I'm pitching in with the yard work.

1/2 teaspoon measuring device will suffice. Be sure to pick up some surfactant of some type and some dye (about $18 each). It makes it much easier to apply when you can see the stuff that is down.24gtpgirl wrote: I don't have a scale to measure in grams-does it come with a measuring cup or something that's somewhat accurate? Not sure on the MSO. I'm still new to this level of gear and learning. This is what the JDL guy hooked me up with.24gtpgirl wrote:What about MSO will that work? And dye?

Re: Celcius Herbicide!!
The trio Bfranks has is all you really need, I ended up getting a gallon of MSO(Methylated Seed Oil) from JDL for cheap so that is what I use. I also have a small gram scale that I got from Amazon for like $9 that I use but that is just me and my OCD. As far as I am concerned Celsius is a miracle product for everything it kills. I will say that if you are spot spraying weeds, be sure to spray lightly because if you over do it, it can stunt the growth of the bermuda around it. The bermuda will recover in a week or two though.
