FYI: Don't put this product down if you're expecting washouts in the next few days. As a pelletized product, it will float. However, it can be irrigated, but it takes a few days to dissolve into the soil.

I wonder if the point of the sale was to get more people to try it out,
rather than a couple people here buying it all out LOL Either way I'm
sure they'll be like wow we sold out at tons of places!

I'm sure it was to get rid of the inventory. Encap has discontinued it for lack of interest.

The west St.Paul menards had about 25 bags left after I got mine this morning if anyone in the Twin Cities is interested.

The 10 bags I left at the south side Indy menards were still there. See what I get for being nice and leaving some? I have enough though.

Pfft. Almost 2 weeks ago? I wouldn't have left them.

Now they are tacking on the 11% rebate so the price is showing $1.77 (after rebate) at my local Menards. I haven't bit because Menards is kinda far, I am at the end of my lawn budget, and not really sure what benefit this stuff will give me.

I'm a previous lurker, and just revisited here yesterday. First of all, great site and great folks. Second, a big THANKS! for the tip! I was actually going to pay full price (~$25) until I saw this thread. The Menards on the NW side of Fort Wayne had 25 bags of it @ $1.99. When I got there, most of the bags were in sad shape, with various sized holes. I bought the 12 least open bags--it was like buy 1, get 11 free!
The downside is that about 10% of the granules are wet, so I opened 5 bags and dumped them in a wheel barrow to dry. Thanks again!

Welcome, oze!
I still have a few bags of this product left. I like it. Not worth what they were originally asking at full price to me, but definitely for $2 / bag - much more affordable.
Menards also usaully has great prices on 50 lb bags of cracked corn if you're there

Thanks for the info--but I just ran to Menard's during lunch and had to get right back, so I missed your post!
BTW, has anyone found settings for using a drop spreader to apply this stuff?

No way could my drop spreader apply this stuff. It's pretty chunky. I used a broadcast spreader with a pretty high flow rate. You'd be pretty hard pressed to overapply this stuff.

Cr@p. I was afraid of that. I'm going to try it with my drop spreader on the highest setting, and keep my fingers crossed. Thanks, fellow Hoosier!

I am guessing that is because it got wet.
I applied at 6X the bag rate at 30 on my Earthway 2150. It took two passes.

Just finished applying the compost with my Scotts Accugreen 2000 drop spreader. 2 passes at the wide-open setting applied 5 bags on my ~5000 square foot lawn.

I dropped 54-lbs/k(27 bags) single pass with lesco 36" in July. I'll be dropping another 27 bags next weekend. Both application are tilled in 4".

I put it down at bag rate today with the earthway. I only have a few bags left and they're for the renovation area hopefully soon.

Scratch the 27 bags next weekend. My new establishment is on hold. I believe I'm too far into fall for KBG seeding. I wouldn't be able to drop seed until 28th.

I had to drive 30 miles away, but I tracked down more of the compost--18 bags at the Menard's in Warsaw, IN--I left 3 bags just to be nice. The 11% rebate sale was this week, so it came to $1.77/bag. I am really grateful to Lone Ranger and the others who pointed out this sale to me. Thanks again, folks!

Your welcome. I have a stockpile on hold until late spring, once all the flatwork and irrigation is installed. It looks like I'll be initially seeding annual rye in late spring and renovating in the fall. I may even wait until 2016 to renovate. That will give the AR time to establish a good root zone, to alleviate compaction.
