Your application schedules
Hi. I would like to get an idea on which dates you spread organic matter like cgm, sbm, alfalfa, etc for the whole year(maybe May until October). I'm going to print it out and I'll use it as my guide.
For the amount, you spread at least 12-15 lbs per 1,000 sqft right?

Re: Your application schedules
A good starting point is 4 lbs of nitrogen per 1k ft per year split over 4 applications. That's where I started.
Each of the om products you mentioned will have different nitrogen content so you need to calculate it. For instance, sbm is 7% N so you need about 14 lbs of sbm to put down 1lb of N.

Re: Your application schedules
In east-central Pennsylvania, I drop on May 1, August 1, September 1, and October 1 with 1 pound of nitrogen per thousand of organics (soybean meal, mostly).
When growth stops, generally around Thanksgiving plus or minus a lot, I drop 1 to 1.5 pounds per thousand of nitrogen in the form of synthetics--usually urea.

Re: Your application schedules
De nada, but your mileage may vary. Although in IL, it's not likely to vary by that much for most of the year, the late fall schedule may adjust appreciably.
I do find that KBG does better on more nitrogen than you might think it needs, but my schedule would be overkill for somebody (not you and I, in other words) who has fescue. Done organically, it doesn't really matter, but there's no sense in waste.
