Hint: Collect OM now

Nobody seems to think ahead and collect things like coffee grounds ahead of when they immediately use them. I have a nice stockpile of coffee grounds in my garage going. Added bonus is that the garage smells better :)

HLG, could you stand a little closer to the wood chipper when you make these excellent posts?

He-he.

Coincidentally, chipping is my plan for this weekend assuming today's 8" snowfall melts enough by then (mid-40s expected) to access the pile (brush and trees up to 4" caliper). That, and assuming that I can get the chipper started which will require holding a heat gun to the engine for a while first.

On the way, I will dump coffee grounds on the compost pile.

For real - I am loading up on UCG. Gimme gimme.

The other thing I'm doing is getting fertilizer for the year. I'm going to make one bulk purchase this year and have it delivered - at least that's my goal. I'm travelling a lot for work now, so I need to maximize the time I do have at home.

Also - my sprayer clogged up end of season - I will need to fix it before it's time for that first app of prodiamine!

Off-topic by me, sorry...

I'm travelling again too. I weaseled my way out of Buffalo (#4 snowiest city in US, 100,000+ population). Where did I wind up? Rochester, NY (#3 snowiest) - and I have to travel through #2 (Syracuse, NY). Think they're telling me something?

Should've said something! I have been going to buffalo 1-2 times per month and will be until summer. Even got stuck in D.C. overnight once due to a blizzard in BUF. No direct flights for me!

We have a container we keep in the freezer to hold compostables. My wife takes it to the pile as needed.

Where do you get your coffee ground from?

I used to live in hotels and would get the hotel people to save their coffee grounds for me. I had a bunch of it in Rubbermaid bins. That stuff never dries out!! Also it gets a fungus on it right away. Ignore it. It is blue green in color and tends to make the coffee grounds clump up even if you can get it dry. It's a beneficial fungus anyway.
