Biochar
I've never been as excited about biochar as a lot of my fellow organic gardening cohorts. At best I saw the material as a possible substrate to hold minerals and possible nutrients for future uptake by plants. I just came across an article which suggests something I never considered. The linked article is not in-depth, but it discusses two different kinds of biochar as they relate to phosphate uptake in tomato plants via mycorrhizal fungi.

Re: Biochar
Hmm... very interesting, thanks for sharing. Makes me wonder how biochar would affect different grass types? I've been applying the Anderson's Biochar and Humic DG this year & last. Can't say I've seen any specific benefits, but the last two years have been difficult to judge due to a tree removal & subsequent changes in sunlight/irrigation requirements.
