Anyone have this 48 inch Husqvarna riding mower?
Husqvarna YTH24V48FR. Thinking about getting it for my acre lot and just wondering what you think of it. Reviews are very good on lowes.com. Debating whether to get mulch kit or not, mixed reviews on it. Can anyone comment on the mulch kit?
Thanks
Thanks

Do you have any other plans besides using it as a mower? IE: Some riders have the ability to use attachments like: snow blowers, snow plow, etc.. MSRP: Looks like $1800.. if no plans to use any other attachments I would consider a used "commercial" zero turn instead.

Yea, I was looking at the zero turn, but I've settled on a tractor since I do want the option to be able to tow a dethatcher or spreader, etc.

Re: Anyone have this 48 inch Husqvarna riding mower?
I have a husqvarna 52in GTH27V52LS. It is really a powerful mower for hauling anything around. I have hauled a 1/4yd of crushed granite around and up hills no problem. The cutting on on it though is less than desirable and it is a gas hog. If I was chewing through inches of thick grass I'm sure it would be great.
I had a nice snapper push that I loved to cut with. Always nice and even and nice stripes. It just took me an hour and a half to mow. Sold it to buy the nice rider.
Somedays I wish I still had the push.

My neighbor has a 48" Husky, but I'm not sure of the model. He uses it to jockey a couple of flat bed trailers around in addition to mowing. Seems to work fine for him. I think anything larger than 42" takes three blades.

For what it's worth, you can get hitches for zero turns.

I have a John Deere rider now that I'm looking to replace with a Zero Turn.

I think you need to get comfortable with what you will tow with a zero turn. They do have hitches but my understanding is that the tow capacity of most zero transmissions is not very substantial. If you want to tow a bag of seed and a rake that might be fine but if you're towing a leaf vacuum or firewood that might be a different issue. I have a DR leaf vacuum that is several hundred pounds empty and a couple hundred more if full of mulched leaves. Unless it were a commercial level zero with a big engine I wouldn't want to pull a lot of weight.

Re: Anyone have this 48 inch Husqvarna riding mower?
What do you plan to use the mower for secondary to mowing? How rough is the yard? How much time do you want to spend cutting?
Full disclosure, I am not a fan of buying items from big box stores that I know I will be using heavily. The stamped steel decks are pathetic, but they do have that fancy wash out port!
Having mowed my parents 2+acre yard for many years I can tell you first hand that the single best thing they did was move up to commercial grade mowers. The Bad Boy zero turn they have now is great. Moves quick, suspension seat, lights for dusk mowing, it takes half the time to mow as it use to.

Re: Anyone have this 48 inch Husqvarna riding mower?
Thanks for the replies everyone but I've done a complete 180 on this. I was so close to going into lowes last week and buying one but remembered I have another option... I've decided to just pay the neighborhood teen $25 to mow my acre lot. No maintenance, no storage, etc. If/when I do need a mower I'll keep zero turn commercial in mind. Thanks again.

FYI you can easily tow a pull behind thatcher or spreader with a zero turn mower, and even a leaf vacuum trailer. You may just have to add counter weights to the front of it, because there's more weight in the back than in the front.
