Re: Chapin's new 20V Backpack Sprayer
I think the overall ease of use/convenience wins. Pressure/flow should be fairly constant with a particular color nozzle as long as the pump maintains the same RPM... and higher flow rate nozzles aren't as big a deal when you're not pumping by hand.Southernguy311 wrote:So at least we've established this sprayer does have some limitations despite the overall ease of use and convenience.

Absolutely!Southernguy311 wrote:So at least we've established this sprayer does have some limitations despite the overall ease of use and convenience.
Well said. What is the pressure/flow rate though? Without measuring or regulating it, we don't exactly know. It's probably less than ~29psi at the tip, based on a previous post. It would be great if someone had a PG at the wand, while operating with TJ tips.Ware wrote:Pressure/flow should be fairly constant with a particular color nozzle as long as the pump maintains the same RPM... and higher flow rate nozzles aren't as big a deal when you're not pumping by hand.

Re: Chapin's new 20V Backpack Sprayer
Chapin specs read 0.4 to 0.5 gpm at 40-60 psi operating pressure.
I use the brown AIXR11005 tip and checked the calibration, my sprayer put out right at 0.5 gpm for the three flow tests I made. Close to the TeeJet catalog rating of 0.5 gpm at 40 psig. YMMV

Re: Chapin's new 20V Backpack Sprayer
Tested with a pressure gauge at the handle end, it's 40 psi.
I connected a 29 psi CF Valves to the wand and the pump seems to be working continuously with no cycling but it leaked on the wand side, what am I doing wrong? There was no gasket, so should I use teflon tape?

The CFV should have come with gaskets. Was it a Chapin product?

Re: Chapin's new 20V Backpack Sprayer
What is the logic behind using a constant flow (CF) valve with a battery powered sprayer?

Re: Chapin's new 20V Backpack Sprayer
The same logic used behind any battery powered sprayer, regardless if it's a backpack or tow behind. Are you assuming that this backpack is somehow different from other battery powered sprayers? It's not. While I will agree that this sprayer has a pressure-shut off switch, that does not confirm pressure at the tip. Is this sprayer accurate in it's pressure regulation? It very well maybe but, I haven't seen any confirmation to such.
Seiyafan, what equipment did you use to test with? Was it the Chapin handle with integrated PG?

Yes, I bought it at this place: http://www.minnesotawanner.com/CONSTANT ... 9b-tjt.htmLoneRanger wrote:The CFV should have come with gaskets. Was it a Chapin product?
I call them up and the guy said the gasket is not necessary, it should just work. I am going to add some teflon tape to the wand end.

I threaded a water pressure gauge to the stock handle.LoneRanger wrote:Seiyafan, what equipment did you use to test with? Was it the Chapin handle with integrated PG?

Re: Chapin's new 20V Backpack Sprayer
I use a CF valve on hand pumped sprayers. I could see the logic on a multi nozzle tow behind to keep the flow the same for all the nozzles. But with a single hand wand sprayer, a CFV is unnecessary. The spray nozzle selection provides the backpressure and thus creates constant flow. But you all can do whatever you please.

When my neighbors try to ask about the lawn, my reply is "you dont want to know, if you enjoy your marriage you will walk away"

Re: Chapin's new 20V Backpack Sprayer
Chapin threads are slightly different than TeeJet. Adapters between the two threads come with Chapin brand CF valves.seiyafan wrote:Yes, I bought it at this place: http://www.minnesotawanner.com/CONSTANT ... 9b-tjt.htmLoneRanger wrote:The CFV should have come with gaskets. Was it a Chapin product?

Some folks on here have said they've had no problems with the Chapin threads, which is a head-scratcher for me.

Re: Chapin's new 20V Backpack Sprayer
It's possible the tubular style CFVs don't come with gaskets, as they maybe designed as self-sealing. However, that model is the wrong thread(11/16" NPT) for a the Chapin wand. A 3/8" BSP thread is needed. That's probably why it's not sealing. Let's hope the wand you ordered fits the Chapin trigger-handle and also has 11/16" NPT on the tip end.seiyafan wrote:Yes, I bought it at this place: http://www.minnesotawanner.com/CONSTANT ... 9b-tjt.htm
