Get this TeeJet tip.

Get this TeeJet cap.

Get this nozzle body.

Get a couple CF Valves. I like the 15 psi yellow because I use a 1 gallon hand pump sprayer. If you use a backpack, you might like the 21 psi red one. I got both, just make sure they are 11/16ths thread.

You'll also be happy with this wand, this trigger, this handle, and this swivel barb. For extra credit, you can buy a strainer to cut down on clogs.

Drop the tip into the cap, and the strainer into the nozzle body. Screw the cap into the nozzle body and connect the body to the CF valve. Screw the CF valve onto the wand and screw the wand onto the trigger. With Teflon tape, connect the trigger to the handle, and with more tape, connect the handle to the swivel barb. Clamp the barb to your hose and your off the the races.

DFW, do you need the cf valve if you have the battery powered backpack?
Also, do you need the wand setup to have the tip setup?
Thx.

Wand and Tip

Post by dfw_pilot » July 13th, 2016, 2:00 pm

I can't speak to the battery backpack because I don't have it. Other's have chimed in on that issue though, I think.

As to the wand, it's just nice to have, the business end is what is important. The right tip can determine using 1 or 4 gallons over the same area, so getting the tip right for the job is critical. If you have a wand that will accept multiple tips, you should be all set.

I just got the whole tip setup you recommended, actually fairly cheap.

I am having a tough time calibrating my backpack. Hoping the tip will help.

ajmikola, let us know how it works out. With my non-battery-powered Chapin, I used a bunch of thread tape for the TeeJet quick connect. It made the connection to the Chapin threads a little more snug.

If the threads are not snug, it's the wrong thread size. All that is needed is a gasket at the interfaces.

You are correct.

One guy on here wrote Chapin about it, and they told him they use a custom thread that doesn't work with the third-party tips.

The threads are very close. So until I can find a coupler to go between the two thread sizes (one of them being a mystery), or spend $125 on a new wand assembly and CF valve, the thread tape will have to do.

Mine certainly didn't. I'll call chapin and ask.

Just looked on Amazon...it even lists the 11/16" adapter in the description!

My cf valve came with the sprayer.

Hopefully Chapin will send me one.

Thanks!

Ah! That's the reason. A seperate purchase of the valve can be installed on non-Chapin equipment. Your's is already packaged with a Chapin product, for use with that product.

Yep, you nailed it.

Talked to Chapin, and give details over in the sprayer wand thread where it is more appropriate.

None of this will help someone who runs into this problem with the 20V sprayer. Which is actually one of the reasons I went with the non-battery powered.

Chapin

Post by dfw_pilot » July 15th, 2016, 12:28 pm

Actually, Hitemtrue, it probably deserves its own thread as the sprayer wand thread is about the wand, not any particular backpack or pump sprayer. The wand I mentioned will work great on most any sprayer if you cut the crappy wand and hose off of what comes on most sprayers.

I just came back into this thread to recant that statement.

Purchasing the CF Valve solves the problem even if you don't use the CF valve, correct?

DFW, you are right, of course, but some folks may want to start out with just the tip-end of the sprayer. The wand on the Chapin 62000 seems to be decent.

My tip setup is "out for delivery" right now. I will have it tonight and will hopefully have pics to show everyone.

My assumption is the tee jet setup that dfw wrote about will work on the chapin wand.

But to be quite honest i'm so confused now its not even funny.
But one thing for certain i will have an answer tonight!

I can relate. On both points. Getting a CF Valve with adapter today. Once you put it all together, the fog should clear.

If yours doesn't fit perfectly, hopefully we've got your less-than-$20 solution.
