^ You don't have the 45 bend on it though.

You are absolutely right, i just tried it and it doesnt work with 45 degree angle. It leaks everywhere!

Chapin threads aren't quite the same as teejet.ajmikola wrote:You are absolutely right, i just tried it and it doesnt work with 45 degree angle. It leaks everywhere!
I received my chapin CF valve tonight, and it comes with an adapter that works. You only need the adapter, but getting the chapin cf valve is the easiest way I've found to get it.
I posted more details in the sprayer wand thread.

Blue Teejet Tip= Fail
Wanted to share my experience trying the blue teejet tip. Since the flow was greatly reduced compared to the red, the pump cycled/pulsed in and out resulting in a very uneven coverage similar to when a tip is clogged. Not sure if anyone had tried to use the blue at this point, but I think I'll stick with the red or brown for this particular sprayer setup. Perhaps the blue tip would work in a 2 nozzle setup? Not sure, but was a fail in this one. I'm going to order a new wand for my 2 gallon pump up and convert it for inside pest control and put those blue tips to use for that.

+1 I tried several tips before settling with the brown.

Re: Blue Teejet Tip= Fail
This sort of surprises me, as it's only one size smaller than the red - 0.26 vs 0.35 GPM @ 30PSI. I often use a yellow tip for spot spraying w/Celsius (although not with the Chapin 20V). With a brown tip you're approaching 0.50 GPM - or only 8 minutes of spray time between fills.Southernguy311 wrote:Wanted to share my experience trying the blue teejet tip. ^, ^^, & ^^^ Quick tip - Use a proper CFV and this will not happen. The sprayer will still pulse but, the pressure will be constant at the tip. CFV regulation above ~27PSI may not operate properly with this sprayer, because of pressure losses before the CFV.

Pulsing a positive displacement pump can result in premature failure. The 'pulsing' is the pressure switch chattering.

Re: Chapin's new 20V Backpack Sprayer
The issue experienced by the previous posters is chatter or close to it. The CFV will stop the chatter and pulse the motor @ ~1 second on/off.
P.S. This scenario is using a 21PSI CFV. Using a lower PSI CFV will decrease the on time and increase the off time. However, it will be minimal.

Re: Chapin's new 20V Backpack Sprayer
A somewhat related question, when the tank is near empty the pump would do extra work, should you try to pump out as much as possible or just forgo the remaining liquid?

Re: Chapin's new 20V Backpack Sprayer
As soon as pressure or flow is lost, reach back and turn the switch off. Otherwise, over a long term it can damage the pump.

Re: Chapin's new 20V Backpack Sprayer
Does the Chapin 20V have a PRV bypass? If not, using a CFV may not be advisable.

Re: Chapin's new 20V Backpack Sprayer
No it does not. If it did, the pump would operate continuously and drain the battery very quickly. The sprayer was not designed for a CFV. However, if you want proper pressure/flow and a consistent pattern, a CFV is the only option.

Re: Chapin's new 20V Backpack Sprayer
So back to what I was saying. Use the red or brown tip for this sprayer and you will be good. With both of those tips I've experienced very even flow without the use of a cfv

Any excessive flow restriction (via an undersized nozzle and/or use of a CF valve) on the output of a positive displacement pump without a pressure relief can result in short-cycling the pressure switch.

Re: Chapin's new 20V Backpack Sprayer
So at least we've established this sprayer does have some limitations despite the overall ease of use and convenience.
