Re: Honda hrr216 cutting problem
I read that some have lowered the front of the deck a 1/2 inch lower then the back, has anyone tried this method? I am going to see if that helps this weekend. My service guy also told me that the engineers from Honda said the higher the deck the more air flow and this too may help.

My blades are still factory installed, just had It to the dealer last week and he said the blades were fine and still sharp. I have read dozens upon dozens of complaints all over the internet about this issue. I know there are thousands of these mowers out there and only a few are having this problem, so is it operator error who knows. But the few that are involved in this thread have tried different things with the same result.

Re: Honda hrr216 cutting problem
Here is what I have done to remedy this problem. I changed my governor position to the second hole. Then I mow in a clockwise motion since the left side always mows fine on the edge. I'm not happy with doing that because I like to mow stripes in my front yard to make it look nice.

You can't get any exchange satisfaction from your dealer or Honda? This is not normal. There may be bad batches, or shoddy assembly, but in general you should not have to accept such limitations.

Re: Honda hrr216 cutting problem
Until someone says that their dealer or Honda recognizes this as a defect, I'm not going to try because I'm sure I will just get a stupid look from my Deere dealer.

Here's an excerpt from The Deere Promise:
"If you are dissatisfied with your new purchase, you may bring it back to your dealer for repair or another unit or your money back"
Get another unit. Yours sounds like a fit and finish issue. If the next unit is no better, get a refund.

Re: Honda hrr216 cutting problem
So frustrated, nothing I have tried has made a difference. Cut the grass again yesterday or should I say cut it twice.

Re: Honda hrr216 cutting problem
Has anyone had any success with taking this issue to Honda or John Deere? I am going to take mine in to get it's yearly tuneup and thought I'd say something to them or offer to mow their lawn to prove that it sucks.

Re: Honda hrr216 cutting problem
I've given up, after this season I am going to see if I can trade it in for something else. It's a shame because I really like the self charge battery system on this for the electric start. No other mower has that, all of them you have to plug in and charge the battery. Any suggestions for a replacement?

Re: Honda hrr216 cutting problem
Has anyone tried to switch to normal blades instead of the twin blade system to see if that fixes it? That's my last idea of how to fix this. Otherwise, I'm going to start looking into a riding lawn mower but I would have to keep it outside during the mowing season in Iowa and maybe find a storage unit for it in the winter.

Re: Honda hrr216 cutting problem
I think I'm going to just get a riding mower that I can keep outside instead of using this stupid mower that doesn't cut worth a crap.

Re: Honda hrr216 cutting problem
It's funny, I have been on several different forums that Robert from Honda is a part of. He answers almost every question or problem about Honda Mowers, But has been completely silent when I posed this problem to him. And when I brought this up to the Honda service dealer, I was told they have not heard of this issue and everything is working fine.

Started using the mower again this season and still having the same problem. Has anyone come up with a solution?

Re: Honda hrr216 cutting problem
Still having the same issue here too. I think there has to be something wrong with the design of the mower deck in order to not have the suction to mow that area of grass.

Re: Honda hrr216 cutting problem
Very frustrating that I have to mow twice with a $700 mower and I have tried every possible solution that I could research and I'm sure you have too, It is puzzling that more people don't complain, there are thousands of these mowers out there and I am sure a lot of people here have them as well. Maybe you and I are just the unlucky few who got lemons.

Re: Honda hrr216 cutting problem
I may be in the market for a new mower and was considering an HRX217 but after reading this thread I will probably go with a Super Recycler.

Re: Honda hrr216 cutting problem
My HRX217 has worked fine so far. Done nothing but sharpen blades, change oil, and put gas in it. Not all of them are lemons.

Re: Honda hrr216 cutting problem
Yeah that's the weird part. From what I have been reading the Hondas seem to have slightly better reviews than the Super Recycler. Both are highly rated.

Re: Honda hrr216 cutting problem
Mine just needed the rpm adjusted which was just the spring in the wrong hole. Sometimes I miss a strip but that's just cuz I can't walk straight lol
