tlinden wrote:So doing some reading, apparently multiple people have had the problem of the cut being uneven. Make the blade go left to right, then measure each side on a flat surface. Then rotate it opposite and measure again.

I noticed the last 2 times I cut mine is cutting uneven. It's just noticeable on the edge of the slop because the grass with the street in the background I started to notice that the stripes were very well defined on the edges, and after looking at a video I shot I realized the cut isn't the same height, just off a tiny bit. The good news was the fix was changing the wheel bolts for that (according to one person, I haven't measured and fixed mine yet)

Anyways, something to look into before the dealer checks it out.
Defective/bent blade, defective/bent stamp on the deck mount, defective/bent casting on the motor mount, or defective/bent blade mounting plate.

Did you check for a blade offset like tlinden had?

Mine has a flywheel brake if that's what you mean.

what tlinden wrote is describing strips of grass being cut unevenly and I have read about that issue, but mine is more random, I really don't have defined strips of uncut grass.

Is that an engine or blade brake?

I also don't have uneven mowing. It's just random blades that aren't sucked up and the not much suction on the right side of the mower.

Is that an egine or blade brake?
Not sure but on Honda's site for my mower, under specs, it says blade control is flywheel brake.

^ That's an engine brake. I'm sorry. I don't know the mechanics of Honda lawn mowers.

Wonder if something like this would work lol. It's on the Troy Built mowers. it's attached to the front on the mower to lift the blades back up. Anyone want to try and fabricate something like this?

After two and half long weeks I finally got the new mower. I did have some problems from HD as the first one I ordered came in with a tapped up box and the mower had some damage, luckily I checked before leaving the store, so I hasd to reorder a new one and wait another week, it was frustrating. The second one came in and again with a tapped up box but this one seemed to be ok so I took it home.
I just did my first cut and man what a difference almost no missed blades I think a counted a handfull in total, compared to the dozens left by the Honda, the handling is so much easier and it feels so much lighter, I'm impressed. I also noticed how much more this mower mulched up leaves to the point they disappeared. The Honda would just tear them up in to smaller pieces and made my lawn look like I had trash all over it, when I was done I would always have to get the leaf blower out to clean up, not with this Cub Cadet the leaves just mulched and disappeared and no leaf blower needed this time. I will say the Cub doesn't feel as solid as the Honda but with a three year warranty I'm ok with that. Also the front caster wheels make turning this thing a breeze. I now enjoy cutting my lawn again.

I've started to raise my HOC in preparation for warmer weather and I'm now noticing the dreaded missed blades. They weren't there at 3", but I've noticed they are quite obvious at 3.5". I also noticed they only show up in the NoMix areas of my lawn. The Zoysia areas cut at any height have absolutely zero missed blades.

Where are you getting tons of leaves to compare?

I have a Oak and Maple tree in my yard and the squirrels love to jump and run through them. They are constantly knocking branches and leaves down. All summer long I have to clean up leaves that have been torn off from those squirrels. It's a pain. I just cleaned the yard yesterday and today I can count 8 small branches with about 6-10 leaves on each one. In a week I could have couple dozen small leave clusters in my yard. The Cub Cadet pulverized them, as for the Honda it would just tear them in to quarter size peices.

It will, but from what I have seen so far I am confident the CC will out perform the Honda. The Honda did so poorly at mulching leaves I actually bought a Craftsmen powered lawn vacuum to mulch the fall leaves.

The Cub Cadet, Home Depot price matched to $449, then took another $25 off because the first one that was sent was damaged and had to be reordered, so total was $424 also picked it up in Delaware so no sales tax either. Now to try and sell the Honda on Craigslist! Maybe someone else with a different cutting method or lawn will have better luck then I did with the Honda.

On line and did pick up in store, I also did a online chat before ordering and asked them to price match, since the CC website had the model for $449 and HD was $499. They price matched, no problem.

Hey guys, I have the HRX217K4VLA model and I'm looking to adjust the governor spring to see if I could get more suction for fall mulching season. Do I need to move the spring into the second hole or am I already in the top RPM position in the first hole? See pic. I have not had noticed any missed blades with this mower. The cut has been excellent. It could use a little more suction power though.
