Peat Spreader
I'm adding one of these mulch spreaders to the arsenal for the upcoming season.
Anybody have something similar? I'm a little nervous that (a) it will be a pain to get one of the bails of compressed peat moss into the roller and (b) that I'll need to find a better source of organic matter. Anybody have experience and any advice?
Last year, I bought the 3.8cuft bags of Premier brand peat that the big box stores sell. Was planning to use similar unless it's not fine enough for the spreader.

Re: Peat Spreader
That's what I used last year except mine came with blisters. Mostly from the upside-down rake to spread the peat down.
Respect for your tool of choice though.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you think about that type spreader beedix, as I too have been thinking about adding one of them. I just wish there was more positive feedback about spreading compost with them, because you can buy a cubic yard of compost for about what 3 bails of peat moss costs.

Yep our city sells compost...not sure what the quality is or how fine it is. I'll be sure to report back with my experience. Hope it works well!

Re: Peat Spreader
I have a peat spreader like that. It works very well and is much easier than spreading by hand. It doesn't work well for most compost as the holes are too small.
