Good digital scale for lawn stuff....

Post by northeastlawn » April 17th, 2017, 8:20 pm

Can anyone recommend a good digital scale for weighing 1-10lbs. Stuff like seed and pre-m, something well built that can handle the abuse of the basement and the yard is a plus.

I got a 0-22 pound kitchen scale off of Amazon for cheaper than anything I could find locally at target and such. It was under $15 if I remember correctly. Works great.

I've been using a cheap luggage scale similar to this one: https://www.amazon.com/Digital-Hanging- ... gage+scale

Not the best but does the job.

Look for a fish scales on Amazon. I prefer analog so I don't have to worry about batteries and the auto off features. I store stuff in 5 gallon bucket (since they are stackable) and scoop out what I need with a pre and post weight of the bucket.

I bought an ultraship 35 scale for a few different uses but lately I've been weighing out more lawn stuff than anything else. I really like it.

I know this is an old thread but I picked up the this scale and It's worked great. I just hang a bucket from it and pour whatever into the bucket.

Another vote for digital fishing scales. Weigh they empty bucket, pour fertilizer or seed in the bucket until the scale hits the target weight. I don't use the kitchen/mail scales unless I'm measuring ounces.

I ended up grabbing a cheap digital scanner from amazon for weighing postage.

For weighing stuff like lime or bay state fertilizer (Milo) I use a fish scale and a bucket.

For weighing stuff like SOP and grass seed that like 2-4lbs, I use a cheap digital mail scale

I keep it all in the shed or cellar, so Im not tempted to use the kitchen scale, problem solved.
