John Deere D-Series Negotiation

Post by krusej23 » May 22nd, 2017, 2:37 pm

Has anyone had any luck with negotiations on a John Deere D105 or 110 at a dealership? I see they are online for $1500 or $1700 and was wondering if I could negotiate them down a hundred or two.

I got a D-130 a few years ago when they were running a special which included the dump cart...I believe there are two sizes, a 10cu feet and 14 cu feet....I think they included the smaller one at the time.

Okay, I was wondering more of negotiating price because I don't really care for a trailer. I just figure that there may not be much room for them to haggle on a $1600 mower.

My local Toro dealer knocked $100 off my Timemaster($1,100 MSRP) if I paid in cash, so I think there should be some wiggle room on the mower you want. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect to negotiate around 10% off the MSRP. However, if the dealer already has a $1,700 mower priced at $1,500(due to a sale or nearby competition) I wouldn't expect them to move too much on their price. If they don't want to negotiate on price, try negotiating in some parts or service visits to try and make up that 10%. Maybe some oil/oil filters, extra blades, or whatever you want. If they don't want to haggle at all(and some dealers don't), try another dealer. Just remember it's a give and take, and at the end of the day they do need to make a profit.

I was hoping to get the mulching kit possibly thrown in and mulching blades so maybe I'll try that instead of dealing with the cash discount. Thanks for the info ENVY23.

I just bought a JD D-130 @ Lowes. The list price was $1899, and b/c I'm a veteran-they now offer 10% daily. So that saved me ~$190. Right now, they're offering an additional $250 rebate. So now the price tag is down to $1459. Not bad IMO. To make a long story short, I had a merchandise card for $605; so I ended up getting the tractor for $854. I love it

So they weren't willing to give me the $250 which I was kind of expecting. They were only willing to install the mulch kit for me, free delivery, and free pickup and delivery of any service repair on it. It's being delivered today or tomorrow. Pretty excited since this is my first riding lawn mower.

Here is the new D130 that I received delivery on today and I was very excited to mow some grass with it. Of course, we are in a minor drought situation right now and the grass is starting to brown now.
