Advice on removing stuck sprinkler from hose?

Post by Green » September 3rd, 2017, 9:08 pm

I had 3 spike bases outside most of last year, and one got welded to the hose, on a brand new hose. I've tried everything I can think of (wrenches) to get them apart. Any other ideas?

Spray "PB Blaster" on it. You can also try applying heat with a heat gun.

worse case new fittings would be about $2 if you were to cut it off

2 pairs of channel lock pliers would probably work. With or without the PB Blaster and or heat.

Sommerland. Always use brass, unless you want to go through that again very soon.

Looks like the original fittings may be stainless steel or zinc.

I have one, and tried it along with a slip joint pliers for the other side...the issues are that there isn't a good grip on the spike base side, and the pliers are splayed so far apart that it's hard to get a good grip on them (the connector the hose came with is pretty wide. Also, I started deforming the metal a bit instead of getting things to turn.
