Honda HRX217 Owner's Thread

Post by seiyafan » September 28th, 2017, 6:20 pm

Let's have a place for all HRX owners to ask questions and share yours best practices.

I will start with three questions.

1. You set throttle lever to FAST when starting, and STOP when you finish, so when do you ever set it to other positions in the middle of the two?

2. For best mulching result, do you close Clip Director all the way or one before it?

3. Since I just got the mower, if I put 4-5 hours of use before the end of the mowing season, do I change the oil now and have it sit in the shed for 5 months or do I leave the old oil in and change it next spring?

Thx!

1. I never use anything but fast or stop
2. I've never tried any other setting except all the way for mulching.
3. Temperature changes can affect oil over time, so I would wait for spring to do the oil change.

I never set the throttle to anything but wide open when mowing.

I set mulcher to full mulch.

I’ll change oil after my last cut of the season.

Tried all the way for mulching today and there's a sizable amount of clipping in the discharge opening, had to scope them out by hand.

Seiyafan...many of us with HRX217’s have that same issue...I blow out the clippings with the blower...there are some on ATY that have discussed fixes for the problem but it’s low on my priority list.
