Eliet Scarifier

Post by gradyb » November 3rd, 2017, 7:07 pm

Looking for some feedback.

I purchased a used Eliet Scarifier yesterday. Does anyone dethatch/scarify each year as a part of their lawn program? If so, do you use it once, twice or more? Can I expect significant improvement in my turf health? Used properly does it remove turf grain and sponginess?

Thanks,
gradyb

If you have a really thick thatch layer it will help your turf some. Thatch is only a small part of turf health.

As far as how much to use it? I would only use it when it's needed. There's no definite answer because it just depends on how much thatch builds up each year. Some people never have to dethatch because the layer doesn't get thick enough. I wouldn't expect to have to use it every year or maybe even every five years. How thick of thatch layer do you have now?

Thanks Marinegrunt. I have about an inch of thatch. My hope is that it will allow me to reduce some grain issues as well.
