Toro Super Recycler - Aftermarket Hi-Lift blades?

Post by Hammbone81 » September 13th, 2021, 2:04 pm

Has anyone successfully found a hi-lift blade that will work on a Toro Super Recycler?

The mower mulches great in stock trim. However, it doesn't have much suction, even in side discharge mode. I have grass that gets matted down (intersections where wheel tracks crisscross from rotating mow direction) and the SR can't lift the grass up to cut it.

Follow up: I answered my own question. Toro part number 108375903 is a high lift blade. I'll be picking one up tomorrow.

I was always under the assumption that high lift blades can't really be used to mulch. Will you have to switch even you're mulching vs discharging?

I've wonder about that myself. I picked up the high-lift blade Tuesday and did lots of experimenting, all with a 3.25" HOC (notch "E"):

1) High-lift blade, mulching, accelerator installed, deck level
2) High-lift blade, side-discharge, accelerator installed, deck level
3) High-lift blade, side-discharge, accelerator removed, deck level
4) High-lift blade, mulching, accelerator installed, deck pitched high in front (1 notch hire than rear)

Set-up#3 had the best cut finish on the grass, but was a bit messy (also defies the purpose of owning a Super Recycler)
Set-up#4 was the best compromise of cut finish and low/no mess.

Plan Forward:
In the future, as I'm lowering my HOC this fall, I will experiment with double-cutting. I don't have a test plan yet, but I've been thinking about how to set up my DOE (design of experiment). Lots of variables to play with, both in mower set-up as well as order of operations.
