No problem - just let me know. Because the S15 handle has some weight on it while in the carton, it will get a flat spot in the foam grip which after a few hours usually comes out.
You shouldn't have received a used replacement and I will look into that, but each unit is tested before it leaves our plant and there will be a small (about a cup) amount of liquid in the tank and lines. This is to prevent initial use wear of the pump.
JeffK
Good to know on the liquid left over from testing. So maybe the first unit wasn't used. But it was also missing the user manual and the box was poorly re-taped, so something was going on there.

There seems to be few Amazon issues that Earthway themselves cannot control.

I'm going to try Northern Equipment, big retailer, I have an account and have had good luck with them. I'm thinking also they have a higher inventory turnover where they probably have the new design S15 rather than the year old one with issues. Listing at $260 there.

Thanks again Jeff for your assistance

Ware - it sounds "fishy" - you really need the manual as it has the setting for calibration of the different tips and height. Shoot me your email address and I will email you a PDF manual with rate chart.

Jeff
They were new S15 replacements from Amazon. How do I get the upgraded brace attachment?

I received my third S15 this week... and the handle cushion is NOT ripped on this one! :yahoo:

I'm unsure which pump bracket design it has. Does someone have comparison photos?

I'm anxious to try it out once what's left of Isaac moves completely out of the area. We've received a measly 0.6".

Ware, the new brace has an extra screw that secures the brace to the gearbox but it is partially hidden by the lower handle - closest to the axle. If you flip the S15 onto the tank cap - wheels up, you might be able to see the silver screw head. This screw goes into a lug already molded into the gearbox. It is retrofitable on your unit. My suggestion is to use it as it is and should it fail I'll take care of it.

My pump bracket took a dump on me today.

If you haven't already, zip tie the pump to the frame as pictured.

Hopefully this is the last time I use this thing on the whole 1/2 acre anyway.

Working on a mower mounted unit. I'm a lazy, skinny wussy

Zip ties have it pretty solid. Plus I'm pretty sure part of the pump broke off when the bracket decided to jump ship.

I'll double check later with pics.

Thanks!

I havew the same problem with my sprayer. Although Jeff takes care of you, the company should design a better bracket/ pump system to be able to handle normal use.

Lawndog, and all S15 users: we have improved/reinforced the gearbox to support bracket connection to eliminate any issues. From all of my tests it has solved the problem. If anyone has the new version and have had a problem, please let me know.

My pump on my S15 felt like it was binding up yesterday while I was applying my PreM. It still seemed to work ok but it felt like it was getting stuck every time I went to start a new row. I rinse mine out after every use and make sure that I clear the lines out with fresh water too! I am wondering how long it is going to last now. It almost feels like it needs to be lubed or something.

I have the S25. My gearbox got jammed up. It was relatively new at the time. So Earthway replaced the gear drive.

I took the old one apart and found the large white sprocket (there are two others) had cracked in half.

Mine is back in working order. But I'd feel better if I had a couple of spare sprockets on hand for future problems.

That will be something to look at if mine ever does fail, I wish there was a better and cheaper option than this thing but it does do a good job for the price.

How to you clear out the lines? Is there a way to drain the lines?
