YES! The King of the Blues! I just finished playing The Thrill is Gone for the last hour or so on Rocksmith, and have tickets to see him next month here in The Fort!HoosierLawnGnome wrote:Bb king the thrill is gone

Oh man, is it great to see that there are fans of the blues on this board! I love Big Mama's version of Houndog. Elvis' version is OK, but nothing like hearing Big Mama belting it out!Charley wrote:Big Mama Thornton - Elvis Presley stole this one

Re: Whatta ya listenin' to?
Just finished listening to the original (C.1933) When the Levee Breaks, by Memphis Minnie, for the first time. Another example of a Led Zeppelin rip off I mean cover.
I'm actually on iTunes right now, working on beefing up my woeful blues collection. My daughter got me a book called Exploring Chicago Blues, which is a short introduction to the blues artists who made "The Great Migration" from the Mississippi delta to Chicago in the 30's - 60's, and changed music forever. I thought I had a nice collection of 847 songs in my Blues playlist, but this book is going to cost me a lot of money, as I read about, listen to and ultimately purchase songs by these great artists. First stops: Memphis Minnie, and then Jimmy Reed.

Hiromi Uehara - Alive!
Joe Bonamassa
Walter Trout - Live Trout
I high recommend Hiromi for her virtuosic jazz playing ability and Joe Bo, well he's at the very top of his game right now in terms of blues. Throw in some trout and you will be on fire.

Mark Kroos
I just bought a couple Mark Kroos albums. Here's a taste of what he can do on a double necked guitar as he plays both parts of Dueling Banjos:
