Does anyone here use Cricket Wireless?
I'm getting a OnePlus 3 phone which does not work on the Sprint network (my carrier). Is there anything I need to look out for with Cricket? I always thought of them as a 'burner' phone carrier, but apparently there are mainstream users.

Yes, I have been on cricket for over a year now. Compare to Verizon I am saving $1000 a year on three lines. They use AT&T network so make sure you have their coverage.

I've been using straighttalk on att for 4 years. I think it is the lower price than cricket with 5gb of data. Cricket controls the speed to a max 8mbps.
Either one is using att towers and service, so it is pretty good.

I've been using Cricket for a little over a year. I downgraded to their new $30 plan which is meant to compete with Google's Project Fi. The service has been excellent. It's owned by AT&T now. (Leap wireless is the parent company of cricket, AT&T bought Leap.)

I'm paying $265/month with Sprint for 4 lines unlimited everything. Cost of 4 lines at Cricket with 5GB data is $100 with group discount.

Keep in mind, once you go over the 5GB you still get data, just at lower speeds. So it's unlimited data, just not unlimited at LTE speeds. They do not support VoLTE or HD Voice. Tethering can be an issue, they have an "approved list" of phones and they will only enable it for those phones. Having said that, I've been on Cricket for about 18 months now, so far so good, saved quite a bit of money.Dchall_San_Antonio wrote:I'm paying $265/month with Sprint for 4 lines unlimited everything. Re: Does anyone here use Cricket Wireless?
Thanks j4. My normal usage is under 1GB, but for some reason last December I jumped up over 2. I do understand the throttling. Most of my data seems to be used when driving and listening to Pandora. At 2G Pandora doesn't work. I never thought about tethering, but it is something to consider. Currently I don't ever tether. The OnePlus 3 is not on their Internet list of phones, but the guy at the local Cricket office knows the phone and has set them up. I think as long as it is a GSM phone they will take it.
Nice to see that Cricket is not just the wireless service for burner phones.
