Mosquito Spraying

What are your thoughts on having your yard sprayed for mosquitos? Seems like they come and "fog" everything coating the trees and such. Has anyone done it? Results? I see for a small investment you can do it yourself as well.

Wife is hounding me to do it but i'm not sure if i want to.

Last year we put out a bunch of citronella plants (also called mosquito plants) around the "people" areas of the yard (pool, eating & lounging areas). They worked remarkably well. So much so we're repeating it again this year.

Well my wife is making me feel like a bad dad by not doing something and i certainly don't like mosquitos and the such. People in the area say the fleas and ticks are terrible but my dog hasn't had one.

Looks like its $500 a season for a company tom come out but i can buy a high quality mister and the necessary chemicals for $800.......might be a hit this year but should go in the black next year.

There's a special technique for using the mister -- it's not just fogging stuff. It's not impossible to get good control on your own, but it's a bit more technique-heavy than the usual spraying we usually do for lawns.

Thanks Billy,
I anticipate it being a little different in the beginning but I've been watching some you tube videos (sounds funny and dumb to say that) so hopefully i can get the hang of it early. The key is getting it to go on the undersides which is challenging since the solution is gravity fed.......definitely a technique to get it to work right.
