Is propane generator a better option for me?
I live in a village that gets about 3 power outages each year, normally it would last no longer than 12 hours before the power is restored. I know gasoline has a shelf life of 6-12 months, so If I buy a gas powered generator and suppose it won't use up the gasoline stored in the shed then I will have to manually run it dry right? (I have an electric mower). I could instead buy gas only when the power goes out, but the concern is that pump in gas station might stop working. On the other hand propane has a much longer shelf life but propane generators seem a bit weak in terms of power delivery and output quality. Like to hear your thoughts on this.

I second the tri-fuel if you can pay a bit more.
The Hondas are generally considered the 'best' generator, but you will pay for them.
As for gas, how many cars do you have? If you have 2 cars with 20 gallon tanks - that's a lot of fresh gas. I've used gas that's over a year old no problem. And, you can always mix in a little old gas with the fresh, new gas in your car's tank - just get a simple hand, fuel transfer pump for a few dollars.
I store my generator dry, but I only run it once or twice a year when I test it. If I were running it every 4 months I'd probably just keep it topped off with stabil in it. Or just use the pure 'real gas'
